FOR RESEARCH
Choosing topic involves:
a)Determining the area of
available choices
b)Narrowing the scope of the
topic, and
c)Stating the topic in a sentence
A. Choice of topic
 Set limits on the choice of
available topics. The topics
should be within your field of
specialization.
B. Scope of the Topic
The scope of the topic should
satisfy the following criteria:
1. Worth
2. Manageability
3. Availability
1. Worthwhileness
Chosen topic is worth investing
time and effort on. It should be
of such nature and scope that
others will agree with you on
its worthwhileness and
importance.
2. Manageability
 The topic is limited enough to
follow for the depth of
treatment that is expected for
the assignment. Manageability
in choosing a topic may include
determining one’s capacity to
work on the chosen topic.
3. Availability
 Refers to the on hand
information in the library
and in some cases, the data
that can be collected under
the existing circumstances.
C. Statement of the Topic

The topic should be expressed in


the following ways:

1. As a thesis sentence or
2. As a question
