Something, a part of a city – either physical & intangible components –

Physical identities: tangible, able to be touched

– The sites are on the strategic position >>> high economic value

– Searching the identities from tourism documents: broshures,
pamphlet, magazines, website; talking with citizens 旅行関係資料
(パンフレット、雑誌、ホームページ)、市民との会話からアイデンティティを探した
– Site observation 実地観察
– Asking people by sending close-ended questionnaires via mail,
email, direct survey >>> 87 purposive respondents
選択形式のアンケートを郵便、電子メールで送ったり直接依頼したりして人々に尋ねた >

– In-depth interview by using open-ended questionnaires to various
key informants: the mayor, city managers (section), council
member, academician, private sectors, planners/consultants,
selected by snow-balling method

• Designating the historic area and preserve it by using a regulation,
planning, zoning 歴史的地域を指定し、規制・計画・ゾーニングにより保存
• Providing incentive policy to the owners: free/reduction of tax, cross
subsidy 所有者へのインセンティブ政策:税の減免、補助金
• Perform the art and traditional performance in the historic area
