• Economic
- Media Prima Bhd’s net loss widened to RM40.41 million for the first
quarter ended March 31, 2019, from RM21.83 million for the
previous corresponding period.
- Revenue fell 14.81% to RM239.1 million from RM280.67 million as it
registered lower revenue across all.
- Loss per share for the quarter rose to 3.64 sen from 1.97 sen.
- Publishing segment saw a 40% slump in revenue as advertising sales
fell 29% and newspaper sales dropped 30%
- Lower advertising sales also affected its radio and television network
which posted a 40% and 12% fall in revenue respectively.

• Technology
• User-generated content (eg: YouTube, Netflix) takes eyeballs away
from traditional media mainstream like Media Prima.
• Household broadband penetration at 61.5% and will grow 75% by
2015. (Broadband 75%, Mobile Penetration 107%)
• Malaysian (constant access to internet), make up 40% of the total
population of 27 million.
• Tablet PC usage and ownership by Malaysian are expected to increase
from 18% to 75% in 2012.
