HERMENEUTIC
PHENOMENOLOGY
• is a much broader term (sometimes it can appear
alongside the term.
• PHENOMENOLOGICAL HERMENEUTICS: the
differences are philosophically important and it is
about which part of the two is morw
relevant:interpretative process itself (hermeneutic
circle) or grasping the essences of the phenomena
• Basic themes of hermeneutic phenomenology are
interpretation,textual meaning, dialogue
preunderstanding, and tradition..... Ricoeur's
hermeneutic phenomenology examines how
human meanings are deposited and mediated
trough. mhyth, religion, art, and language.
What is the difference between
phenomenology and hermeutics?
• Hermeutics is older than phenomenology.
• Hermeneutics deals with interpreting
texts,phenomenology with interpreting
experience/phenomena/conciousness.
• Hermeneutics focuses on language while
phenomenology focuses on appearance.
• Phenomenology is a qualitative research method
that is used to describe how human beings
experience a certain phenomenon. A
phenomenological study attemps to set aside
biases and preconceived assumptions about human
experiences,feelings,and responses to a particular
situation.
• Phenomenology is the philosophical study of
observed unusual people or events as they appear
without any further study or explanation. An
example of phenomenology is studying the green
flash that sometimes happens just after sunset or
just before sunrise.
