About the Telegraph
• The Electric Telegraph was produced and patented
by F.B Morse in 1837.
• Morse sent the first telegraph signal in 1844.
• The telegraph could send signals through an
electrical currents.
• Morse and Alfred Vail created a system that assigned
Letters and numbers to dashes(long marks) and
dots(short marks).

• When caught on sound the telegraph sounds


like a series of short and long beeps.

Social Change

• The Telegraph changed the way people communicated


and received information during that time period.

• Most people were eager for the telegraph because it


was a faster and easier way to send and receive
information.

• The telegraph also helped the military out because it


was able to send cryptic messages to troops and deliver
orders.

• Even banks used the telegraph to allow money to be


wired across great distances.
