 IRNSS is an Independent Regional Navigation Satellite System has

been developed by India.

 It is designed to provide accurate position service to users.

IRNSS will provide two types of services:

 Standard positioning service
 Restricted service
SATELLITE NAVIGATION
ELECTRCAL COMPONENT
Generating the satellite signal :

Simplified block diagram:

Onboard each of the satellites are four highly accurate atomic clocks. The resonance frequency of
one of these clocks generates the following time pulses and frequencies required for operations.
• The 50Hz data pulse
• The C/A (Coarse/Acquisition) code (a PRN-
Code broadcast at 1.023MHz), which modulates the data using an exclusive-
or operation (EXOR)16 spreading the data over a 2MHz bandwidth.
• The frequency of the civil L1 carrier (1575.42MHz) The data modulated by the C/A code mo
dulates the L1 carrier in turn by using Binary-Phase-Shift-
Keying (BPSK)17. With every change in the modulated data there is a 180° change in the L1 car
rier phase.
PHYSICS COMPONENT
 The current operational low earth orbit satellite phone networks are
able to track transceiver units with accuracy of a few kilometres
using Doppler shift calculation from the satellite.

 The co-ordinates are sent back to the transceiver unit where they can
be read using AT commands or a graphical user interface.

 This can also be used by the gateway to enforce restrictions on

graphically bound calling plans.
MATHEMATICAL COMPONENT
CIVIL COMPONENT
 Sat Nav will help to regulate road use and minimize traffic jams.

 If all vehicles are fitted with a navigation satellite receiver and a

data transmitter, their position can be relayed automatically can be
relayed automatically every few seconds to a central station.

 The road sector is a major potential market for satellite navigation

application.
