Replaces the functionality of a part or whole of the eye In our proposed method of bionic eye, a small and a powerful camera powered by nanogenerator, is implanted inside the patient’s eye Bionic Eye Parts of Bionic Eye
Digital camera Video-processing unit Radio Transmitter Radio receiver Retinal implant Parts of Bionic Eye How it works
The bionic vision system consists of a camera,
attached to a pair of glasses, which transmits high-frequency radio signals to a microchip implanted in the eye. Electrodes on the implanted chip convert these signals into electrical impulses to stimulate cells in the retina that connect to the optic nerve. These impulses are then passed down along the optic nerve to the vision processing centers of the brain, where they are interpreted as an image. Advantages & Disadvantages
Advantages Disadvantages
It identifies the Costly
location or movement If a single part of the of objects and people chip is damaged the Help in other activities total technique will be of life meaningless Conclusion
We may not restore the vision fully, but we can
help them at least to find their way, recognize faces, read books, distinguish between objects such as cups and plates, above all lead an independent life References
