• This tutorial aims to re-enforce and support some
of the content from the lectures and practicals
regarding antibiotic resistance

• The tutorial will revolve around a discussion of


two commentaries on recent publications.

• Learning outcomes:
– To be aware of the scale and global nature of
the antibiotic resistance problem, and how
One Health Approach can help address this
– To be aware of the different uses of
antibiotics, and how antibiotics have been/can
be discovered
– To have an understanding of how antibiotic
exposure can result in antibiotic resistance
– To be aware of how genomics can be used to
characterise antibiotic resistance, and some of
the pros and cons associated with this
