AKSHAYA PATRA

 It is a free mid day meal program to get children out of work and bring them
back to school.
 It is a non profit organization founded by Madhu Pandit Dasa
 It started in the year 2000, serving 1500 children in Bangalore.
 It is worlds biggest free meal program serving 18 lakh students everyday.
 According to 2011 census report, India’s children population is 472 million,
where 48% children are malnourished
 The program is trying to bridge gap between hunger and education.
 In Hubli, Karnataka. Akshaya Patra foundation reaches to
more than 800 schools and serving mid day meals to more
than 175000 students daily.
 Process of preparing food involves 3 stages
1. Top floor: pre processing area.
2. Middle floor: cooking area.
3. Ground floor: packing of meals and loading takes place.
 It uses 6 tonnes of vegetables, 12 tonnes of rice and 2.5
tonnes of dal everyday to prepare meals.
