• Wash hands • To prevent cross infection


• Pour water or antiseptic solution over the
perineum • To wash the discharge and clean the anal
• Clean the perineum using the wet swab with area after stool passing
forceps with gloved hand from above down • To clean the part
to anal orifice.
• Use one swab for one stroke • To prevent contamination
• Use soapy swab then again at last wet swab • To clean the area completely
• Clean the perineum from midline to outward • Start from more clean area and move
in following manner: vulva
towards less clean area

• Remove the bed pan by supporting the hips
as before
• Turn the patient to one side and clean the
buttocks with dry gauze piece.
• To remove moisture from buttocks.
