AC SHEETS

AC SHEET i.e ASBESTOS CEMENT SHEET IS A BUILDING

MATERIAL MAINLY USED FOR ROOFING.

IN THIS, ASBESTOS FIBRES ARE USED TO REINFORCE THIN

RIGID CEMENT SHEETS.

Also used as corrugated roofing panels, roof coatings, home

siding and pipeline wrap.
MANUFACTURING:

1.CEMENT AND ASBESTOS FIBRE IS MIXED WITH WATER IN 10:1 RATIO TO FORM A THICK
SLURRY.

2. This slurry is transferred into a number of stirred vats i.e

containers.

3. A rotating cylinder fitted with a sieve cloth is partially immersed in the

vat and picks up a thin layer of cement and fibre gradually builds up as
the slurry dewaters through the sieve cloth.

4.A moving belt (Felt) is in contact with the rotating cylinder and
picks up the thin primary layers of cement and fibre on the surface
of the felt.

5.When the desired thickness is reached the wet sheet is cut and
fed off the belt.

6.The flat sheets are transferred to an oiled, profiled tin by a

moulding head and the resultant corrugated sheet is left to cure
for 24 hours.
THEY ARE AVAILABLE IN VARIETY OF SIZES
AND THICKNESS 3MM – 6MM

APPR COST:
1. 1M -3M , 6MM THICKNESS - 400Rs.

TYPES:

1.CORRUGATED AC SHEET:
AN ALTERNATIVE TO METAL PANELS[ LESS
INSULATION AND RUSTS ]

USED IN THE ROOFING OF ALL TYPES OF BUIDINGS

ESPECAILLY IN FACTORIES AND FARMS.

2.ASBESTOS FLATSHEET:
USED AS A PARTITON TEMPORARY
WALLS OR UNDERLAYMENT OF
FLOORING IN THE INTERIORS SINCE
IT IS MORE WATER RESISTANT.
ADVANTAGES:

1.NON INFLAMMABLE EVEN AT A VERY HIGH TEMPERATURE AND IS EXTREMELY

FLEXIBLE AND DURABLE

2.SOUND PROOF.

3.RESISTS DAMAGE FROM TERMITES.

4.LESS NOISY, IF SOMETHUNG FALLS OVER THEM [ IN COMPARISION TO G.I SHEET]

DISADVANTAGES:
1.SLIGHTLY HEAVIER.

2.CHANCES OF BREAKING IS MORE DURING HANDLING.

3.IT IS VERY HAZARDOUS TO HEALTH.
