DIVISION GUIDELINES ON THE
LAYOUTING OF QEs
1. The total number of items per grade
level are as follow:
• Grades 1-2: 30
• Grade 3-4: 40
• Grades 5-12: 50
-Except for MAPEH which will be
decided by the EPS-I In-Charge

2. Paper size – 8.5 x 13 in.
3. Margins
• Top/Bottom: 0.5 in.
• Left and Right: 0.75 in.
4. Font size/Style
• Grades 1-3: Arial/Century Gothic – 14
• Grades 4-6: Arial – 12
• Grades 7-12: Arial – 11

5. For Grades 1 to 3, set single space after
each item for a breather, for Grades 4-6
at least .6 in. No space is allotted for
Grades 7-12 except for Main Heading
like Instructions and Titles or Types of
Test.

For Elementary, QEssingle column for
the choices. For secondary, 1 column for
longer choices (phrases, sentences and
photos or graphics and 2-4 columns for
shorter answers. Choices must be
arranged in any of the following format:
• Alphabetical
• Length (shortest to longest or vice
versa)
• Ascending and descending/ Lesser to
Greater or vice versa for figures

8. Practice consistency and parallelism in
