Freedom in the Gospel

Gal 4:21 – 5:15

“The Truth Shall Set You Free”


John 8:32
Some Facts:
• Sin brings us into bondage
• God wants us free.
• Jesus sets us Free.
• Christ's death on the Cross set us free
from the penalty and power of sin.
• Everyone is a slave in spiritual sense.
Freedom in Christ:
We are redeemed from the curse
of the law, sin and death.
(Galatians 3:13)
True freedom only come to those who are
slaves to Jesus Christ.

(Gal 5:1, Luke 4:18, John 8:36 )


Christian freedom is not freedom to:
• Indulge in the flesh (v13)
• Exploit your neighbour (v13b,15)
• Disregard the law (v14)
• A license to do whatever you want.
• A right, but a privilege – Gal 5:13
• Outward circumstances.
Indications:
• I am accepted.
• I am secured in Him.
• I am empowered.
• I am significant.
• I am loved.
• I no longer carry burden of sin.
My obligation:
• Walk in that freedom – Rom 6: 1-2
• Be immersed in the word of God – John 8:32
• Be filled in the Holy Spirit - 2 Cor 3:17
• Go deeper in prayer - 1 Thess 5:17
• Love, love and love - Rom 13:8 -13
Summary
• We are children of the promise (4:28)
• We must expect persecution (4:29)
• Jesus has sets us free (5:1)
• We are no longer bound to taskmasters of
sin.
• We must stand fast in the freedom – (5:2-12)
