Historical Lenses

 Economic Lens: Creates a better

understanding on how the
economic stability influenced the
author’s way of thinking.
 Political Lens: The inspiration for
the drafting of the US Constitution
came from a Critical Period that
gave us the freedom of speech
and a better nation of all citizens.
 Social Lens: The reasoning to why
British rules were thrown out of the
Constitution and why America did
not get along with the British.
HISTORICAL NARRATIVE

The drafting of the US Constitution began May 25, 1787 and ended on September 17. 1787.

Twelve articles of amendments to the Constitution were sent for approval to the States on
September 25, 1789.

These years were considered “AMERICA’S CRITICAL PERIOD”.

This phrase was used to described the era in American History between 1783 and 1789 in
William Henry Trescot 1857 book called “The Diplomatic History of the Administrations of
Washington and Adams.
OUR LIVES

The US Constitution was written

to strengthen the Nation and to
give rights to the people of the
United States. It has been
revised many times to fit into
the current times. It has given
us the right of such things as our
‘freedom of speech.
HISTORY’S VALUE
The value of history is very important as it keeps records of things that have
occurred in the past in an effort to help prevent the same mistakes in the future.
History is vital to individuals and communities.
DOES HISTORY REPEAT ITSELF?

 In my opinion, I do believe that history

repeats itself. It can be both positive and
negative. History tends to repeat itself
because people are not willing to see
that there could be a better outcome if
they let go of their views.
I believe that people would benefit from knowing how history has shaped
us as a Nation. It would make it easier to understand why and how things
happened to our country. The more we know about history, the better
understanding we have.
