Two Dimensional CFD Simulation of Biomass Gasification in Downdraft Gasifier

Biomass conversion via gasification involves a wide range of investigation relating to technologies and
operating conditions. Due to the inherent complexity of biomass gasification processes, modelling for
simulation and prediction of performance of the processes is still an incipient activity. Two Dimensional
computational fluid dynamics model will be developed to study the gasification process in a downdraft
configuration, considering drying, pyrolysis, combustion, and gasification reactions. The gasifier
conversion efficiency will be observed for different feedstock and based upon the result will be further
analyzed. Various performance parameters will be compared after that, and finally, validation of result
will be done.
