Advantages & Disadvantages

Conclusion
What is 3G?
• 3G (Third Generation) is a generic name for
a set of mobile technologies.

• Data speeds in 3G networks 2 Megabits per

second

• Radio communications technology that will

create a "bit pipe" for providing mobile
access to internet-based services.

• 3G services will add an invaluable mobile

dimension to services that are already
becoming an integral part of modern business
life
HISTORY
• Mobile Networks were asked, in 2000, to
bid on licenses which would bring a new
third generation technology.
• The GSM (Global System for Mobile
communication) technology.
• The idea behind 3G.
• With the growing popularity of 3G
technology
• 3G alliance formed.
3G to Users
• Old boundaries
disappeared.
• "Mobility" will be offered
with many services that we
currently regard as "fixed“.
• It’s about convenience and
speed of access.
• The packet based IP
(Internet Protocol)
technology.

3G networks
 A GSM network is GSM at the handset

 In the case of 3G, a different approach is

being taken.

 3G wideband Radio Transmission

Technologies (RTTs).

 History and commercial reality dictate that 3G

will need to be provided across a wide range
of radio frequencies and techniques.

Advantages
• It provides with faster connectivity
• faster internet access, and music
entertainment with improved quality.
• Can avail the benefits of video calling.
• it is possible to access any site on the
Internet by using your phone as a modem for
your computer or laptop
• The technology enable for much faster
download.
• 3G technology provide you with the data
transmission speed of up to 2Mbps
Disadvantages

• 3G enabled cellular phones are more

expensive as compared to those which do not
share the same technology

• People who have 3G can only enjoy the

video conferencing feature of the technology
with other 3G subscribers
Conclusion
• The first mobile phones are now called first generation (1g)
mobile telephones. the first hand held mobile phone to be
released was in 1983.

• Second generation, also known as 2-g, mobile phones were

introduced in the 1990s. 2-g phone systems were different
because of their use of digital circuit transmission.

• Evolution of GSM, CDMA etc.

• 3g is the word given to the third generation of mobile

telephone standards and technology.

• 3g was successfully introduced throughout the world, some

complaints have been made by both 3g providers and
users, which contain expensive telephones
