OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, 75% students
should be able to attain 80%
proficiency level in describing the
different solid figures: cube, cylinder,
cone, cuboid, and sphere.
• First figure = Cube

• Second figure = Cone

• Third figure = Sphere

• Fourth figure = Cylinder

• Fifth figure = Cuboid

Questions:
1. What have you observe in the video?
* the video presented the different solid figures.
2. What are those different solid figures presented in
the video?
* the sphere, cone, cube, cylinder, and cuboid.
3. Give one example of each figures?
* ball, ice cream, block, tiffin box and can.
• Based on the video, how did you describe the figures?
* According to its shape, sizes and corners.
● How many corners are there in the sphere?
* A sphere is a solid figure that has no faces, edges, or
vertices. This is because it is completely round; it has no flat
sides or corners.

● How about the cube? How many corners are there?

* The cube is a three-dimensional shape which has 6 square
faces all the same size, 12 edges and 8 corners.
● How about the cone, How many corners are there in a cone?
* A cone has one face, one edge and no corners. Although a cone does taper
upwards to a point, that point is not formed by flat surfaces and thus does
not constitute a corner.

● How about the cylinder?

* A cylinder has 3 faces- 2 circle ones and a rectangle (if you take the top
and bottom off a tin can then cut the cylinder part on the seam and flatten it
out you would get a rectangle.) It has 2 edges and no vertices ( no corners ).
• How about the cuboid solid figure? Is there a
corner in it?
* A cuboid that uses all square faces is a cube.
Properties of a cuboid are: It has 12 edges, 8
corners or vertices.
The SOLID FIGURES are common objects that you see
and touch everyday. For example, a block is a solid figure.
Solid figures have many different shapes for example, a ball
has the shape of the sphere.
Solid figures have faces, edges and corners that enables
us to describe the figures. The flat surface of the solid
figure is called a face. Edge the line where two faces meet
in a solid figure and a corner is a point where three or more
edges in a solid figure.

We can learn and describe the solid figures by their faces,

edges, vertices and bases. A vertex is like a corner. A
sphere has no faces, a cone has one circular face and
cylinder has two circular face.
Short Quiz.
Instruction: Describe the following solid figures.
Assignment.
• Make a list of at least 5 examples of the
different solid figures found at home.
Write it on ¼ sheet of paper.
