is called field geology, the main tasks of the field
geology is to explain and describe the surface feature and subsurface structures of the lithosphere. Field geology depends thoroughly on the observation and conclusion of lithology and the structure. Field geology aims to project the surface features on the top sheet (i.e.) preparing a geologic map for a certain area. Field geology advantages: field studies offer several unique advantages in solving geologic problems 1- earth materials and structures can be identified most easily when seen with related features. 2- Interpretation made in the field can be checked immediately against relations they predict. 3- studying actual association of material and structures can be led to discovery of new kind of features or relations. Field geology foundations; field studies are founded on three kinds of information:
1- the straightforward facts arising from direct
observation and measurement, the texture of rock, the dip and strike of beds and the geographic relations between two rock bodies are example. 2- interpretation information, certain association of rock and primary structures, for example, are thought to be imply specific conditions or environments. 3- age relation, these relations are partly objected and partly interpretive but form a particular category because they put geologic events in order.
