Personal
Adoration
Choral
Proclamation of
the WORD
Commentator:

Our joy flows from our union

with Christ, the true vine,
and from the gift of ourselves
after his examples.
Priest:
"I am the true vine, and my
Father is the vinedresser. Every
branch of mine that bears no
fruit, he takes away and every
branch that does bear fruit he
prunes, that it may bear more
fruit. I am the vine, you are the
branches" (Jn. 15)
Reader 1:
We give you thanks, O Lord,
because you have purified us
through the word you have
spoken to us. We want to
remain united with you so that
you may remain in us.
Reader 2:
We believe that it is only by
remaining in you that we will
be able to bear fruit, because
without you we can do
nothing.
Reader 3:
We thank you, Lord,
because you have loved us,
communicating to us the
infinite love with which the
Father loves you.
Reader 4:
We want to reciprocate your
love with our fidelity. We pray
to you with confidence: may
your joy be in us, because
only then will our love be
true and perfect.
Reader 5:
Help us, we pray you, to obey
your demanding command to
love one another as you have
loved us. There is no greater
love than to lay down one's life
for his friends, and you have
laid down yours for us.
Reader 6:
We experience the joy of
being your friends. And we
pray you: may your
friendship urge us to do what
you yourself have done.
Commentator:
Sacramental communion
unites us to Christ as living
branches. Hence, we are
committed to live like Him.
Commentator:
For the success of our mission
towards the young, we
Salesians are particularly
committed to live fully the
values of the Gospel
Commentator:
to serve the youth with a love
that gives itself without
reservation, to manifest in our
life the joy that comes from a
free and gratuitous offering of
ourselves
Commentator:
to be fully aware that without
Christ we can do nothing, and
to open our hearts to God in
humble and constant prayer.

Prayer
Commentator:
May we now ask everyone to
bring out their strip of cloth.
These cloths of different
colors that all of us are
holding dearly represent our
deepest prayers and
petitions that would bring us
to holiness.

Reader1:
Perseverance describes the
inner strength, grounded in
God, that makes it possible to
give a witness of constancy in
doing good. We need to
recognize and combat our
aggressive and selfish
Reader1:
Being on the path to holiness
means enduring “daily
humiliations”, e.g. “those who
keep silent to save their
families, who prefer to praise
others rather than boast about
themselves, or who choose the
less welcome tasks
Reader1:
at times even choosing to bear
an injustice so as to offer it to
the Lord.” To act in this way
“presumes a heart set at peace
by Christ, freed from the
aggressiveness born of
overweening egotism.”

Reader 2:
Joy & Good Sense of Humor Joy
means radiating a positive and
hopeful spirit, even in hard
times. Sadness can be a sign of
ingratitude for God’s gifts.
Reader 2:
Today’s individualistic and
consumerist culture does not
dispense real joy; consumerism
only bloats the heart.

Reader 3:
Boldness & Apostolic
Courage which are essential
parts of the mission. If we dare
to go to the fringes, we will find
Jesus already there, in the
hearts of our brothers and
sisters, in their wounded flesh,
their troubles and their
profound desolation.
Reader 3:
More than bureaucrats and
functionaries, the Church needs
passionate missionaries,
enthusiastic about sharing true
life. The saints confound us,
because by their lives they
urge us to abandon a dull and
dreary mediocrity.
Reader 3:
The Holy Spirit allows us to
contemplate history in the light
of the risen Jesus. In this way,
the Church will not stand still,
but constantly welcome the
Lord’s surprises.

Reader 4:
Joy & Good Sense of Humor
Community Involvement.
Growth in holiness is a journey of
living and working in community
with others. Sharing the word
and celebrating the Eucharist
together fosters fraternity and
makes us a holy and missionary
community.
Reader 4:
It also gives rise to authentic and
shared mystical experiences.
Such experiences, however, are
less frequent and important than
small everyday things.
Reader 4:
Jesus asked his disciples to pay
attention to small details: wine
running out at a party, a missing
sheep, a widow’s two small
coins. Sometimes we are
granted, amid these little details,
consoling experiences of God.

Reader 5:
Trust-filled prayer. Trust-filled
prayer of any length is a
response of a heart open to
encountering God face to face,
where the quiet voice of the Lord
can be heard.
Reader 5:
In that silence, we can discern
the paths of holiness to which
the Lord is calling us. For each
disciple, it is essential to spend
time with the Master, to listen to
his words, and to learn from him
always.
Reader 5:
God enters our history, and so
our prayer is interwoven with
memories. Think of your own
history when you pray, and there
you will find much mercy.

Commentator:
The long ropes tied from the
vine represent God extending
His love to us, His children...
Commentator:
Everyone is now invited to tie
his or her ribbon to the rope
that is connected to Christ.
Let's do this in prayerful
silence.
Priest:
O God our Father, Love always
new and creative, grant us to
become a community of renewed
men and women who, drawing
life from the Eucharist, witness
to the newness of true liberty
and of genuine love. We ask this
through Christ our Lord.
All:
AMEN
