INTERSEMIOTIC TRANSLATION
Also known as “Transmutation” or Subordinate Translation, it consists of an
interpretation of linguistic and extra-linguistic signs.
It is an interpretation of verbal signs by means of signs of non-verbal sign
systems.
Examples of this type of translation are dubbing, subtitling, film adaptations
or the translation of comics.
INTRALINGUISTIC TRANSLATION
It is carried out within the same language, that is, it is developed a work of
interpretation of certain linguistic signs to others within the same language.
It is also known as “Rewording”
It is an interpretation of verbal signs by means of verbal signs of the same
language.
An example of this type of translation is the adaptation to modern Spanish of
novels, stories or documents written in contemporary Spanish.
INTERLINGUISTIC TRANSLATION
It is the “translation proper” and is performed between two languages. In this
type of translation, linguistic signs are interpreted by means of one language
(Source Language) and are recorded in another (Target Language).

It is an interpretation of verbal signs by means of some other language.
