Joanna “Johnsy”
A young artist from California. She lives
with her friend Sue but contracts
pneumonia. She is convinced she will die
when the last leaf from the ivy plant
outside falls to the ground.
Sue
Sue is also an artist from Maine,
and she is a very close friend of
Johnsy, even caring for her and
supporting her throughout her
illness.
Mr. Behrman
Berhman is an ill-tempered artist that
lives in a flat below Sue and Johnsy’s.
He had been an artist for four decades
but is yet to paint his masterpiece. Even
though he is somewhat argumentative
and bad-mannered, he cares for both
Sue and Johnsy.
