The organisms in this phylum make up more than


75% of all the life on Earth. This phylum includes ants,
flies, bees, butterflies, cockroaches, dragonflies,
mosquitoes, spiders, crabs and lobsters

Characteristics:
• Their bodies are divided into three sections: head,
thorax and abdomen
• They have three or more pairs of legs or appendages
which are jointed
• Abdomen is segmented
• Have exoskeleton or hard outer body covering
( crabs, lobsters, shrimps, beetles)
• Shed its exoskeleton and forms new ones periodically
(molts) during its lifetime as it grows in size.
