WITH LENS 78
• Handheld lenses are useful for examining the
posterior segment with slit-lamp biomicroscope.
Handheld
• lenses can be divided into 2 types : noncontact
and contact lens. The type of the lenses was
grouped into different power range.
• There are many lenses available, each lens has its
advantages and disadvantages. The most
commonly used noncontact lens is +78 D
condensing lens
• The characteristics o the image produced are the
same as an indirect ophthalmoscope that real,
enlarged, inverted and stereoscopic.
• Real Shadow occurs if the shadow is obtained
from the intersection of refractive rays.
• The greater the strength of the lens diopters
used, the more shadow formed will be smaller
• While the + 78 D condensing lens is one of the
most commonly used condensing lenses because
it can provide medium magnification
• The lens is easy to hold
