Matter- Anything that has mass and occupies space
Solid:
1. Solid has tightly packed particles. Solids particles vibrate but cannot move
freely around.
2. A solid object has fixed shape.
3. Solids have fixed volume.
Liquid:
1. Liquids have loose particles that can move freely around.
2. Liquids do not have fixed shape.
3. Liquids have fixed volume.
Gas:
1. Gases have particles that can move around easily.
2. Gases do not have a fixed shape.
3. Gases do not have fixed volume.

Meanings:
Mass: An amount of matter in an object.
Volume: Space occupied by an object.
Pure-Substances: They are substances made up of only one
type of atom, molecules and compounds.
Atoms: Smallest particles of the matter, which are indivisible.
Molecule of Element: Formed when two same atoms are
combined.
Molecule of Compound: When two different atoms are
combined.
Elements: It is substance that cannot be broken down into
simple substances, and is made up of only one type of atom.
Example: O-Oxygen, H-Hydrogen.

Compound: It is a pure substance made up of two or more

elements that are held together by the chemical bonds.

Mixtures: It is combination of two or more substances.

Homogeneous or Solutions: When a mixture is made up, you

cannot see the particles of the ingredients added.
Heterogeneous: When some of the particles are visible.
