BASIC DEFINITION

The bill passed in Dec 2010, resulted in an increase of the legislators’ salary from
Rs. 44,000 to Rs. 75,000 and ministers’ salary from Rs. 29,000 to Rs. 67,000. However,
in a rare case, the bill was given a retrospective effect. Bill was passed in December
2010 but the rise was effected from April 2010.

Later on, there were further amendments in the bill in 2018 when the basic pay changed
to Rs. 1,10,000 for MLAs in Maharashtra.
COMPENSATION PLAN
Salary – Rs. 1,10,000 pm
Constituency Allowance – Rs. 18,000 pm
Secretarial Allowance – Rs. 10,000 pm
Conveyance Allowance – Rs. 6,000 pm
Telephone Facilities – Rs. 8,000 pm to meet the cost of telephone call
charges
Daily Allowance – Rs. 1,000 per day for attending assembly
session/committee meetings etc.
Medical Allowance - Rs. 5,000 pm
Food Allowance - Rs. 4,500 pm
Hotel Allowance - Rs. 6,000 pm
