• Tropical cyclones (TC) are intense low-pressure

systems that develop over the seas or oceans in the


tropical and subtropical regions.
• A cyclone is formed when a warm
temperature of the sea reaches a threshold
level and the wind structure is rising.
HIGH WINDS – STRONG WINDS FROM BOTH TYPES OF CYCLONES CAUSES
ENORMOUS AMOUNTS OF DAMAGE.
 High winds blow over houses or damage them.
 High winds will blow over trees, telephone poles, signs .
 high winds are also responsible for more erosion of beaches by blowing away the sand.
HEAVY RAINS – INTENSE RAINFALL FROM CYCLONE CAN CAUSE
WIDESPREAD INLAND FLOODING
 Flooding causes damages in houses and businesses
 Erodes the beaches
 in large cities, clogs drainages system and creates havoc.
• Cyclones are categorized according to wind speeds and the
damage they cause.
• Category 1 cyclones: wind speeds between 90 and 125
kilometers per hour, some noticeable damage to houses and trees.
• Category 2: wind speeds between 125 and 164 kilometers per
hour, damage to houses and significant damage to crops and trees.
