INTRODUCTION TO THE BANK
 PUNJAB NATIONAL BANK
PNB is a banking and financial service bank owned by
Government of India. It is headquartered in New Delhi, India.
The bank was founded in 1894. As of 31 march 2019, the bank
has over 110 million customers, 7001 branches and 10681 ATM’s
across 764 cities.

AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS


 Punjab National Bank was ranked 717 in the Forbes Global 2000 in May
2013.
 Punjab National Bank was ranked 26 in the Fortune India 500 ranking of
2011.
 PNB was awarded the “ Best Public Sector Bank “ by CNBC TV18 in 2012.
 The bank was recognized as the most socially responsive bank by Business
World in 2012.
 The bank was recognized as the most ‘socially
responsive bank' by Business World in 2012.
 In 2011, it received Golden Peacock Award for
"Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility and
National Training Award".

CAPITAL MANAGEMENT

 Working capital management may also regarded as


the lifeblood of business. Working capital is a measure
of the company’s efficiency and short term financial
health.
 It refers to that part of the company’s capital, which is
required for financing short-term or current assets
such as cash, debtors and inventories.
 It is a company’s surplus of current assets over
current liabilities, which measures the extent
to which it can finance any increase in
turnover from other fund sources. Funds thus,
invested in current assets keep revolving and
are constantly converted into cash and this
cash flow is again used in exchange for other
current assets. That is why working capital is
also known as revolving or circulating capital
or short-term capital.
 Formula for Working Capital: “Current Assets
– Current Liabilities”
OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
 To understand and analyze theoretical
issues of financial management that have
been practically used in the bank.
 To study the need for analyzing working
capital management.
FINDINGS

 Punjab National Bank clientele doesn’t


consist of corporate organization.

 Theincome from interest have constituted


a major portion of the total income.

 Thenet profits have been decreased from


year to year.

 The bank should take steps to cut down


the expenditures.
SUGGESTIONS
 The Punjab National Bank should also reach
out to the corporate clientele for financing
their working capital and other requirement.
 There is an increase in the deposits and
Punjab National Bank must take necessary
steps to increase the percentage of profit.
 Punjab National Bank should spread
awareness among the corporate organization
about the various schemes of loans provided
by them through a proper management
strategy.
 Punjab National Bank take an initiatives to
achieve there future plans.
CONCLUSION
The report provided a great feeling of
success. The study indicates that in order
to improve performance of PNB the
management must take all possible steps,
review and modify various policies by
using sound information system to enable
management to have a sound control over
the various operation.
