Value Chain Analysis: Porters Generic Value
Chain
Porter’s value chain consists of a “set of activities that are performed to
design, produce and market, deliver and support its product”.

Value chain analysis can be a useful tool as a firm seeks to achieve

competitive advantage.

It depicts the way a product gains value (and costs) as it moves along the
path of design, production, marketing, delivery, and service to the
customer.

Margin is the difference between total value and the collective cost of
performing the value activities.
