What is bond
Zero-coupon bonds are bonds that do not pay periodic interest. They pay
the par value at maturity and the interest results from the fact that zero-
coupon bonds are initiallysold at a price below par value (i.e., they are sold
at a significant discount to par value).Sometimes we will call debt securities
with no explicit interest payments pure discountsecurities.
Step-up notes have coupon rates that increase over time at a specified
rate. Theincrease may take place once or more during the life of the issue.
