ASKING QUESTION

• Asking question for nurses and midwife is an important


part to identify patient’s problem.
• 4 types of questions in English:
1. Yes/No Question
2. Information Question
3. Choice question
4. Attached/Negative question/question tag
1. YES/NO QUESTION

• A: Do you know, Rania?


• B: Yes, I know her.

• Short answer.
• Questiona nd answer are specific, to the point.
2. INFORMATION QUESTION

A question that asks for information by using a question


word: 5W & 1H
• X: Do you know how to measure patient’s blood pressure?
• Y:Yes, let me guide you through the process.

• M: How often do you had a nightmare since you catch the


fever?
• G: Every single night, I have not been sleeping well for almost a
week.

• P: How long will the operation be running for?


• D: Around 4 hours and a half, don’t worry too much.
3. CHOICE QUESTION

• A question that can be used first by using to be (is,


are, am, were, was) and do, does, did, has, have, etc

• N: Which leg is still stiff, is it the left one or the right


one?
• P: Left one, I can’t really move it around.
4. ATTACHED/NEGATIVE
QUESTION/QUESTION TAG

• The statement sentences which a speaker supposed


to be or already known the answer.

• X:You have been been sleeping all day, haven’t you?


• Y:Yeah, I got some medicine, so.
ASKING FOR OPINION

• Formal situation
• Have you got any comments on the spreading of Corona
Virus in Busan, South Korea?
• Do you have any idea how to attach the infuse bag?
• Do you have any opinion on the resignation of Malaysia
PM, Mahatir Mohammad?
• Would you give me your opinion on how to keep
ourselves safe from risk of infectious disease?
GIVING OPINION

• Formal situation
• I personally believe that mantaining health is easier than
curing a disease.
• My own view of the matter is that we Indonesian,
consumed too much carbohydrate in a day.
• I personally think that medical drama is interesting
because it has a lot of information regarding my work
field.
REFUSING THINGS

• Thank you for your offer, but I don’t want to bother


your weekend if you have to drive me to downtown.
• No, thanks.
• No need to bother, thanks, I can handle it.
