RESEARCH DESIGN
The research design refers to the overall strategy that a researcher choose to
integrate the different components of the research in a coherent and logical way
so that the researcher effectively addresses the research problem. It is a
framework for planning the research and answer the research questions.
It constitutes the blueprint for:
• The collection
• Measurement, and
• Analysis of the data
The researcher has to keep in mind certain points while creating the
research design:
• The type of data needed
• The location and timescale of the research
• The participants and sources
• The variables and hypotheses (if relevant)
• The methods for collecting and analysing data
CHARACTERISTICS OF RESEARCH DESIGN
There are four key characteristics of research design:
• Neutrality
• Reliability
• Validity
• Generalization
TYPES OF RESEARCH DESIGN
Research design can be broadly classified as:
• Qualitative
• Quantitative
