An international business is an organisation that operates in multiple
nations such as Apple Inc. Apple designs, manufactures and sells a range of products including computers and other technological related services. As of 2018, the company is known to have broadcasted their branches to 25 different nations worldwide consisting of 506 retail stores. Additionally, a strategy which Apple use, is to increase the marked demand through differentiation which further enables them to construct unique products and services. The following figure displays Apple inc’s supply chain which entail different sources such as china when manufacturing their products. Aims and objectives are used by a business/organisation to set themselves targets that they strive to achieve and accomplish in a given amount of time. In order for a business to become successful internationally, they must maintain their specific goals that they set for themselves. Apple’s aims and objectives are to: Maximise sales and profit by 10% within 2 years, they could accomplish this by making good deals and prices that customers will want and it will attract new customers to their business Expand to 30 different countries by 2022 Be environmentally friendly To be able to create new products and innovate to stay ahead of the competitors Apple uses Pestle to minimize potential threats to the business. Political-Due to Apple being an international company, it is crucial for them to consider the laws and policies in other countries. Apple is heavily dependent on lower cost manufacturing in china. Social and political unrest in China could disrupt manufacturing or increase manufacturing costs in that country. Economic-Due to an Increase in labor costs in China, it could take away the cost advantage of some Apple products including iPhone 11. Social-Ethical concerns about Apple’s manufacturing in China could limit their products’ appeal among socially-mindful consumers. Technological factor-Competitors such as Google and Samsung have demonstrated a strong ability to duplicate Apple’s products and services. It took less than a year for Google to roll out a payment app; Android Pay, with the same capabilities as Apple Pay. This means that many of Apple’s signature services and products are no longer unique. Legal-As a result of offering financial services, Apple may face increased levels of litigation. Environmental-China’s efforts to cut greenhouse gases and limit fossil fuel use could increase electricity rates and manufacturing costs for Apple in that country. Internal Factors Internal factors are factors within a business that can be controlled by the organization Strengths Brand identity-Their products reflect a beautiful design with simplicity as well as creativity Weaknesses Incompatibility – A key issue in Apple as a company is that many of its products are incompatible with third-party software / accessories. So overall, when you buy a product of Apple, you enter the Apple universe and you have to continue with Apple only. That makes a huge impact on consumer decision making. External factors External factors are factors outside the businesses control and can have an impact on its success. Opportunities Collaborators-Apple has shown the potential benefit of collaborating with different strong and existing brands related to their marketplace. Threats Competitors-Other big business such as Samsung and Microsoft compete in the same market as apple making it harder for apple to dominate the market. The two major Operating System in the world are Windows and Mac provided by Microsoft and Apple. Microsoft centralizes its strategy around its belief that everyone needs tools for a wide range of productivity tasks regardless of who they are, including Intel, are designing all of their products around this focus. Apple specializes in both hardware and software production in that it manufactures the computer itself and the operating system.
