TELECOMMUNICATION:-

INTRODUCTION:

 “TELE” IS DERIVED FROM THE GREEK MEANING FOR “ AT A

DISTANCE” .

 IT DESCRIBES THE LONG DISTANCE OF TRANSMIT INFORMATION

WITHOUT ANY CHANGES OF THE CONTENT.

 ALL TELECOMMUNICATION S SYSTEM CONSIST

SENDER,CHANNEL AND RECEIVER.
COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS :-

 Communication systems cover a wide range of:

 voice.
 information processing.
 signaling systems .
used to connect users together or to share information.

 Five categories of communications systems in commercial

buildings need structured cabling systems. These are:
1. Phone systems
2. Data systems
3. Local Area Networks (LANs)
4. Building Automation and Control Systems (BACS)
5. Sound Systems

PHONE SYSTEMS :

Most commercial businesses require more than one

phone line, so that employees can receive phone calls
while other employees are making phone calls.
This is supported by a phone switch. Each telephone is
connected to the phone switch using UTP (Unshielded
Twisted Pair) copper cable.
DATA SYSTEMS:
The term Data System is typically used to describe a
mainframe or minicomputer system. It is not used to describe
today’s popular PC-Server LAN (Local Area Network) systems
MINICOMPUTERS :
A minicomputer is a smaller version of the mainframe
computer. all applications ran on the centralized computer
system and all data was stored on the minicomputer’ disk drives.
MAINFRAME COMPUTERS :

A mainframe is a large,
centralized computer that
performed all computing
activities.
All applications were
installed on the mainframe
computer, and all data was
stored on the mainframe
computer’s disk drives

LAN (LOCAL AREA NETWORKS)

The term LAN is defined as “a data communication system

allowing a number of independent devices to communicate
directly with each other and within a moderately sized
geographic area.”

A LAN is composed of at least of

the following components:
Computers
Network Interface Card (NIC)
Communication cable
LAN hubs or switches .
ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS

 EPABX

 SECURITY SYSTEM

 ACCESS CONTROL

 TELEPHONE NETWORK

 COMMUNICATION

 VIDEO SURVELILIANCE

EPABX - ELECTRONIC PRIVATE AUTOMATIC BRANCH

EXCHANGE
A PRIVATE BRANCH EXCHANGE (PBX) IS AA TELEPHONE EXCHANGE
THAT SERVES A PARTICULAR BUSINESS/ OFFICE AS OPPOSED TO ONE
THAT A COMMON /TELEPHONE COMPANY OPERATES FOR MANY
BUSINESS
SECURITY SYSTEM

 AN ELECTRICAL DEVICE THAT SETS OFF AN ALARM WHEN

SOMEONE TRIES TO BREAK IN

 SECURUTY IS THE DEFGREE OF RESISTANCE TO OR

PROTECTION

 IT APPLIES TO ANY VULNERABLE AND VALUABLE ASSET S, SUCH

ASS PERSON, DWELLING COMMUNITY, NATIONAL/
ORGANISATION.

Security Alarms:

A security alarm is a system designed to detect intrusion – unauthorized

entry – into a building or area. Security alarms are used in residential,
commercial, industrial, and military properties for protection
against burglary (theft) or property damage, as well as
SECURITY SYSTEM

FIRE FIGHTING

Fire fighting systems, fire fighting equipment, fire fighting equipment and
accessories like wet riser system, Co2 flooding system, water spray system,
fire hydrant systems, fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, fire detection
systems are important to be applied in buildings for the safety of citizens.
SECURITY SYSTEM VIDEO SURVELLIANCE

SECURITY SYSTEM VIDEO SURVELLIANCE

SYSTEM IS AN IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT TO BE
PROVIDED AT WAITING HALL, RAILWAY YARDS ,
WORKSHOP, RESERVATION COUNTER , PARKING
AREA ETC .

TYPES OF VIDEO SURVELLIANCE :

 HIDDEN CAMERAS
 CLOSED CIRCUIT TELEVISION
 LOW LIGHT SURVEILLIANNCE
 LONG RANGE SURVEILLANCE
 WIRELESS AND WIRED SURVEILLIANCE
CAMERAS…
 Security Camera (CCTV): the use
of video cameras to transmit a signal
to a specific place, on a limited set of
monitors. It differs from broadcast
television in that the signal is not
openly transmitted, though it may
employ point to point (P2P), point to
multipoint, or mesh wireless links.
 Though almost all video cameras fit
this definition, the term is most often
applied to those used
for surveillance in areas that may
need monitoring such as banks,
casinos, airports, military installations,
and convenience stores.
 Video telephony is seldom called
"CCTV" but the use of video
in distance education, where it is an
important tool, is often so called.
ACCESS CONTROL :-

IT IS A SYSTEM WHICH ENABLES AN AUTHORITY TO CONTROL

ACCESS TO AREAS AND RESOURCES IN AGIVEN PHYSICAL
FACILITY OR COMPUTER BASED INFORMATION SYSTEM

ACCESS CONTROL IS THE SELECTIVE RESTRICTION OF

ACCESS TO A PLACE / RESOURCE

THREE DISTINCT FUNCTION OF AN ACCESS SYSTEM ARE :

 IDENTIFICATION
 AUTHENTICATION
 AUTHORIZATION

ACCESS CONTRO SYSTEMS

 BIOMETRICS
 PASSWORD
 PASSPHRASE
 TOKEN CEVISES
 SMART CARDS
