Arithmetic Sequences

What Is An Arithmetic Sequence?

An arithmetic sequence is a sequence in which the difference between
any two consecutive terms is the same.
The difference is called “Common Difference”.
Examples (All Looking For 7th Term, Except “E”)

• . A. 12, 17, 22, 27, . .

• B. 20, 27, 34, 41, . . .
• C. 10, 20, 30, 40, . . .
• D. 94, 100, 106 ,112, . . .
• E. 𝑎1, 𝑎2, 22, 𝑎4 , 32, 𝑎6 , 𝑎7
A. 12, 17, 22, 27, . .
Formula: , 𝑎𝑛 = 𝑎1 + (n-1) (D)
So basically , 𝑎7 = 12+ ( 7-1) (d)
= 12+ (6)(5)
= 12 + 30
= 42
So the 7th term is 42
B. 20, 27, 34, 41, . . .

20 + (7-1) (7)
20 + (6)(7)
20 + 42
=62
C. 10, 20, 30, 40, . . .

10 + (7-1) (10)
10 + (6) (10)
10 + 60
= 70
D. 94, 100, 106 ,112, . . .

94 + (7-1) (6)
94 + (6) (6)
94 + 36
=130
E. 𝑎1, 𝑎2, 22, 𝑎4 , 32, 𝑎6 , 𝑎7

This one is little different but its literally letter A

So to find the common difference you need to subtract 𝑎5 to 𝑎3
After that you have it so the common difference is “5”
𝑎6 = 37 𝑎7 = 42
