SOCIO-CULTURAL INFLUENCES ON LEARNING

learning is the major goal of teaching.


However, learning is influenced by various social
and cultural factors. To fully understand how
learning occurs despite the interplay between
social and cultural influences on learning.

 Culture does not just mean ethnicity or country


of origin, but also the region of the country .
 Cultures have different aspects on the world and
what should be learned.
 Both culture and groups within the culture have
bodies of knowledge.

 Learners often their own individual learning
styles
 Talents and interest influence the way a students
desire to learn
 Popular teaching styles usually do not fit the
learning needs of all students coming from
various cultures and social groups.
WHY WE LEARN
 Cultuarally valued ideas
 Cultures and social groups decide what is useful
knowledge
 Ideas that students learn are culturally
determined
 Personal knowledge needs to allign with the
culture and social groups
Cultural influences on learning

 Teaching strategy, if the teacher’s culture follow a


good moral code then it would surely affect his
approach to the children.
