Chapter 1 - Writing The Introduction, Statement of The Problem and Research Objectives
Research Introduction
A. Research Introduction:
Is the first part of
a written research
paper or the first
thing you say in an
oral presentation, or
the first thing
people see, hear or
experience about
Without an introduction it is very
difficult for the readers to figure
out what you are trying to say.
There is a need to create a
thread of idea that they will
follow through your paper or
presentation.
The introduction gives the reader
the beginning of the piece of
thread so they can follow it.
To make a good introduction
reflect on the following:
1. It is important to make
sure that your introduction
accurately reflects what you
will be saying. Write a good
outline and stick to it. Make
sure that you keep the
thread consistent throughout
the paper.
Research Introduction…….
2. Start with a couple of sentences
that introduce your topic to your
reader. Make these sentences as
interesting as you can so they will
get interested very interested in the
line of thinking you are going to
develop in your study.
3. Then state your thesis sentence,
which may be done in one or more
sentences. The length of your
introduction depends on the length
and complexity of your study.
Research Objectives……
To formulate an easy way of your research
objectives the researcher must:
1. derive a general objective from your
research questions and transform it into an
infinitive clause.
Ex. Why is contraception a divisive issue
among Filipinos?
To determine the factors that make
contraception a divisive issue.
2. identify at least three specific objectives that
will also guide your data gathering and
analysis.
Ex. a. To define contraception and identify the
various contraception methods available in
the Phils.
Research Objectives……
b. To compare the various perspectives of
Filipinos on contraception.
c. To explain divisiveness on the issue of
contraception among Filipinos.
• Some infinitives you can use in formulating
your research objectives.
• to present, to clarify, to identify, to
demonstrate, to determine, to discuss, to
compare, to establish, to describe, to
narrate, to explain, to analyze, to interpret,
to assess, to evaluate.
Research Scope and
Limitations…..
• Scope is the range or the
extent to which the study can
be conducted.
• Limitations are the boundaries
or restrictions to which the study
can be conducted.
• Descriptions of the study and
the respondents are also
analyzed and explained for
readers’ information including
the year, the location or the
place.
Research Theoritical Framework……….
Operational !
Practical Research poses questions like……
Is the topic
accessible
through different
sources
Practical Research poses questions like…….
Is my topic related to
my field of inquiry
