1a. How do citizens of your
country perceive Filipinos?

O Singaporeans thought Filipinos are


hardworking, friendly, and
hospitable. However, they maybe
lacking discipline at times for
example in terms of punctuality in
coming to work.
1b. How do you think
Filipinos perceive your
country?

O Filipinos admires Singapore on how he


country manages to become so wealthy
and successful is such a short time since
becoming independent. Moreover,
Singapore’s infrastructure and innovation
including its people resilience are some of
the things Filipinos admire Singapore.
1c. Describe the differences in
the manner of speaking.

O Singaporean’s manner of speaking is more


straightforward influenced mostly by
Chinese people, they tent to be more
direct and talk faster whereas Filipinos
tends to go round the bush when they
express themselves like the Americans.
1d. What are the different
behaviors of Filipinos that are
not acceptable or not usually
done on you home country?
O Coming to work late or some
they say Filipino time, littering,
loitering and spitting
everywhere.
1e. What are similarities of
Filipinos and citizens of your
country in terms of behavior and
thinking?
O Hardworking, patriotism or love for your
country, diligence and cleanliness.
1f. What was your most difficult
adjustment staying here in the
Philippines?
O When I came back to Philippines, I had
difficulty adjusting to internet speed and
connectivity if I may say, including some
inconveniences when it comes
transportation and road condition or
pavement.
1g. Have you ever experienced
difficulty in transacting or
communicating in English with
Filipinos?
O Yes, at first as Singaporean tends to be
more direct and talk faster but as time
goes by and knowing that Filipinos’
adaptation quality is excellent. We
managed to communicate more
effectively at a later stage.
2. Based on your findings, formulate a possible
strategy for you to be an effective global
communicator. Share your strategy in class.
O Keep it Short When talking to other nationalities,
keep your statements short and direct to the point.
We have to respect for other’s time. A long answer
may lose their interests in what you have to say. In
some instances, they can’t understand what we are
pointing out.
O Learn to Listen Be an active listener. If you don’t pay
attention to what others are saying, you could not be
able to respond effectively. Make sure you understand
the points they are making. Focus on what your
conversation partner is saying so that when you
respond, you will not beat around the bush.
