SEGULA ARGENTINA: Piping stress analysis reach,
pipe supports

• Piping stress analysis.

• Stress intensification factor
• Stress analysis according to standards: ASME B31.1 /B31.3/B31.4/B31.8
• Operating and design conditions
• Selection and location of supports
• Software CAESAR II, for piping stress analysis
• Software Nozzle Pro, for vessels nozzle stress analysis
Software Caesar II. • Static Loads: Primary Loads
• Termhal Loads: Secundary Loads
• Ocasional Loads: Wind loads, Snow loads, safety valves loads,
water hammer
• Check loads on dinamic and static equitment
• Natural frequencies of vibration

SEGULA ARGENTINA: Flexibility analysis for increase
system reliability
Develop flexibility analysis as a tool to increase the reliability of a system and reduce maintenance costs.

Case analyzed: Pump station. Two pumps in operation and one waiting.

3
SEGULA ARGENTINA: Flexibility analysis for increase
system reliability
When the loads on the nozzle of the equipment exceed the allowable stresses, costs associated
with maintenance are generated that impact from indirect costs (Disassembly and Assembly) to
the partial or total replacement of the analyzed equipment.

To ensure that a system or component can function properly, for a specific time (Reliability),
flexibility analysis is a tool that not only guarantees that the equipment operates safely, but also
allows to develop a philosophy of operation that increases system reliability , for example:

Caso 1 Caso 2

Caso 3
When analyzing this pump station, we not only
guarantee the safety of the design of the system, but
it also allows us to know the operating philosophy
where the lowest efforts are generated on the
nozzles of the pumps, while reducing the associated
direct and indirect costs to the maintenance of them.

SEGULA ARGENTINA: Flexibility analysis for increase
system reliability

Taking as an example the cases

previously analyzed, for this pumping
system we can establish that case 2 is
the case where it is recommended that
the system operates, since it guarantees
the least efforts on the pump nozzles

SEGULA ARGENTINA: Flexibility analysis for increase
system reliability
Taking into account that the flexibility analysis represents an indispensable calculation when
making the design of a plant to modify its safety, it can further exploit its potential solutions
solutions such as the one described above, where security is not only guaranteed but also the
most efficient, safe and least maintenance cost of it
