First Impression

▪ A first impression is our first and sometimes only opportunity to


provide someone with a sense of who we are – a sense that will
most often be a lasting one.
▪ A good first impression is the one that reflects the real you.
▪ If you are presenting the best of yourself, the self you want to
share, then you are making the impression that is right for you.
Image Management

▪ Image Management is the ongoing, pro-active process of


evaluating and controlling the impact of your appearance on you,
on others, and the achievement of your goals.
▪ Image Management is all about respect—respect for self and
respect for others, respect for occasions, roles, and goals.
Dressing

People are defined by what’s inside, not by their outward


appearances
However, outward appearances play an important role in
communicating with others.
▪ Create first impressions
▪ Quickly send specific signals to many people at once
Grooming

▪ It is the process of making yourself look neat and attractive.


▪ The things which you do to make yourself and your appearance
tidy and pleasant.
▪ Grooming is important for a positive self-image and to encourage
and assist the resident to maintain a pleasing and attractive
appearance.
Body Language

▪ You only have seven seconds to make a first impression!


▪ Nonverbal communication includes sending & receiving messages
without using words.
▪ Studies have shown that nonverbal cues have 4x the impact on
the impression you make over anything you say.
Etiquette

▪ As a literal translation , etiquette simply means a collection of


little reminders to help people understand how to behave in
various situations.
▪ Etiquette ensures that people know what society in general
expects; it provides standard rules for appropriate behavior.
▪ The purpose of etiquette isn't to put on a show for the benefit of
others with appearances and facades.
