Ready Player One is a movie set in the future in a world
where VR (Virtual Reality) has partially taken over the
world. OASIS, a program created by a man named John
Halliday is the so called world that people ‘play’ in. After
Halliday passed, he released an Easter egg game that
challenges the players, and the winner will get full control
of the OASIS.
This movie plays both VR and actual reality.
Which was once a fully augmented reality game,
turns to be partially real because what happens
in the game could lead to real life consequences.
This movie is basically the epitome of hyperreality. OASIS, the program,
Hyperreality
allows anyone to create a new persona in this world. You can choose your
own avatar, clothing, weapon, anything you want. An example here is the
main character whose real name is Wade Watts, but in OASIS his name is
Parzival. In is VR, Wade created his avatar to be cool, strong, and owns
everything that in real life Wade couldn’t have. He created friendships
with people he’s never even met in real life. In a way, in OASIS, he is living
the life he couldn’t have in real life, though as he’s living in it, in reality he
is in a junkyard wearing VR goggles.
Simulacra

each person has their own avatar, they don't even know the full
form in real life but can also share feelings (for example Wade
and Samantha)
