Modelling

• The modelling and rendering of the proposed model is done on Google Sketchup 2016 version.

• Each masonry unit consists of projection and depression (grooves) on both horizontal and vertical faces.

• The dimensions of the brick model designed is taken as accordance to the dimensions of conventional bricks. The
main purpose of the grooves is to provide both horizontal and vertical interlock thereby increasing the capacity to
hold the bricks together and to withstand the loads in better manner.

• The dimensions of the model are provided in such a way as the volume of the interlock bricks (0.0038475m 3)
is 2.5 times the volume of the conventional brick (0.001539m3).

• The dimensions of the brick modelled is 0.34x0.26x0.2 (m) [LxBxH]. The grooves modelled are provided with a slope
of 1:1 and the height chosen is 5%-10% of the total height of the brick model.

• The spacing in between the grooves and on the either sides are provided in such a way so that it could easily
incorporate the next layer of brick on it.

• The shape of the model gives the ease to provide English bond which is considered to be one of the strongest
type of bond. To complete the entire wall structure a half bat brick is provided on either sides to complete the
structure of the wall.
