1. Homicide of member of a family to other
member due to victim has brought shame or
dishonour to family like
 Violeted the principles of community such as refusing
to enter an arrange marriage
 Having sex outside marriage
 Becoming victim of rape
 Dressing in deemed inappropriate way
 Engaing in homosexual relations
DEFINATION
“Honour killing are acts of vengeance ,usually
death ,committed by male family members,who
are held to have brought dishonour upon
family.”

“A woman can be targeted by her family for


variety of reasons ,including ;refusing to enter
into an arrange marriage ,being the victim of
sexual assault,seeking a divorce .”

Widows were encouraged to throw themselves

Husband were entitled to cut nose and ears of wives
suspected or found guilty of infidelity.

Marrying or having sexual relations with memberof
different caste is strictly forbidden.
WHAT LAW SAYS ??
•No specific law in India which deals with gruesome
act of honour killing and any punishment regarding
the same
•They are treated as ‘Murderers’ under the
provision of IPC Or the code of CrPC as it is not
crime specified seperately under the law
