PROSTATE CANCER
• PROSTATE CANCER is the carcinoma of the
prostate gland that may spread to other parts
of the body particularly bones and lymph
nodes.
• Function of the prostate is to produce seminal
fluid, the liquid in semen that protects,
supports, and helps transport sperm.
RISK FACTORS
• Obesity
• Age
• Family history
• Lower level of vitamin D
• PROSTATITIS
• Elevated blood levels of testosterone
• More common in blacks
• Diet
SYMPTOMS
• Weak or interrupted urine flow
• Blood in urine
• Nocturia
• Dysuria
• Pain in pelvis, spine, and ribs
• Lymphedema
• Renal insufficiency
DIAGOSTIC PARAMETERS
• PSA: Prostate-Specific Antigen
• DIGITAL RECTAL EXAMINATION – to rule out
prostate enlargement
• Biopsy
• MRI SCAN
• CT SCAN
TREATMENT

• PROSTATECTOMY(Removal of prostate gland)

• Radiotherapy

• Hormone therapy

• Chemotherapy

• Vaccine
CERVICAL CANCER
• Cervical cancer is the third most common
cancer in women worldwide.
• Cervical cancer is a malignant tumor deriving
from cells of the cervix which is the lower
part, neck of the womb
Causes
• Human papillomavirus (HPV)
• Sexual history. Multiple sexual partners,
before 18years, partner with a woman with
cervical cancer.
Risk factors
• Smoking
• Weak immune system
• Several pregnancy
• Early birth
• Long use of contraceptive
• Family history
Signs and symptoms
• Bleeding between periods
• Bleeding after sexual intercourse, douching,
pelvic examination
• Menstrual periods longer and heavier
• Bleeding after menopause
• Increase vaginal discharge
• Pelvic pain, leg pain, weight loss, dizzy,
weakness
Management
• Dietary management
• HPV vaccine
• Screening
• Few sexual partner
• No smoking
Diagnosis

• Screening

• Pap test

• HPV DNA test


• CT/MRI/ Pelvic ultrasound scan
Treatment

• Chemotherapy

• Radiotherapy

• Surgery
