• Your own SWOT analysis for an interview
• Your weaknesses (should be credible but
not major), for example:
– international exposure
– experience
• The reason of your existence is to make
the shareholders richer (Shell, Lensbury
Club 1989)

• Nowadays sustainability, ecological and


social concerns are also very important
• You should be customer-oriented and
develop empathy
– for your boss at work and
– for your partner/children at home,
but, make sure that you survive to do all of
this.

Managing yourself and others is a matter of


balances/trade off’s
• Loyalty to the boss is very important
• Study your boss well

Managing your boss/supervisor:


• Your job is, within reason, to make
him/her happy
(Informing the boss is very important, at all
times, under all conditions, find a way)
• Most companies draw career paths for the
young people early on
• Most of these career paths are steeper for
the management candidates than the
technical paths
• The CEO of Über was recently forced to
resign, by the Board of Directors for not
being able to manage the ‘’larger ÜBER
company’’ that resulted.
• Competition Council to avoid
monopolies, competition requires
– Large no of companies
– Free information flow

– Market Control investigations of US State:


– Rockefeller Group (Oil)
– Microsoft

– Recently Google was penalized by EU


Competition Authorities
• Alfred Sloan, the famous CEO of GM

• “Gentlemen, I take it we are all in complete

• Watch out for cobras, companies retain
them for a number of reasons.
• Take a position in a discussion or a
decision, do not stay colorless. Be
opinionated. Why?
