It gives me immense pleasure to thank Prof. Dr. Rakesh Patil , Head of the
Department, M.B.A, for giving me the opportunity to carry out this event with my team
members. I wish to express our deep sense of gratitude to all the faculty members for
their able guidance and useful suggestions, which helped me for the event.

I would like to thank the people of Nasik for showing their kind interest in the
event. I am grateful to all the people who have helped me and my team in every
manner, on the field.
Special thanks to Suraj Thube, Punam Yadav, Piyush Shevale , who have been
a source of inspiration and for their timely guidance in the conduct of the event.
 
Finally, yet importantly, I would like to express my thanks to my beloved

INTRODUCTION
• WHAT IS BATTLE FIELD?
Battlefield is a management event organized by the MBA Dept. of Sandip
Foundation every year. It is a unique event which is organized to develop managerial
skills, leadership qualities and promote team spirit among the students. It is very well
said that “United We Stand, Divided We Fall”, keeping this in mind the students work
together, share opinions and various innovative ideas which inculcates in them, the
feeling of togetherness.
Teams are formed by the faculty members and each team is allocated
specific location, in and around the city. The teams then setup their stalls at their
respective locations and sell products of their choice. Every year, whenever the event
is organized, a huge range of products, right from home decor items to delicious food
stuffs, is seen at every stall.
This year also the event got a huge response from the people. The who’s who
of Nasik visited the stalls, bought the products and gave their valuable feedbacks.
OBJECTIVES
• TO LEARN ENTREPRENEURIAL LESSONS PRACITALLY THROUGH
BATTLE FIELD.
• TO STUDY CONCEPTS SUCH AS PLANNING,ORGANISING,
CO-ORDINATING,MARKET ANALYSIS AND FINANCIAL
MANAGEMENT PRACTICALLY.
• TO PERFORM TOGETHER AS A TEAM.
•  TO PROVIDE QUALITY PRODUCT TO THE CUSTOMER.
•  TO EARN PROFIT FOR CSR ACTIVITY.

SITE SELECTION:

• All the groups were allocated different locations in and


around the city. The location which we got was College
Road. Few days prior to the activity we visited the location
to select the site that would be appropriate to set up the
stall. The place which we have chosen for the stall was in
front of NILKHANTH opp. BYK College . It was highly
populated area and also there were three to four colleges
near us .
• The next step was to seek permission from the local
authorities and nearby shopkeepers to setup the stall in
their area and we got the permission whitout any difficulty.
MARKET SURVEY
 
THE MARKET SURVEY WAS DONE BY THE TEAM MEMBERS REGARDING THE
TYPE OF FOOD ITEMS PREFERRED BY THE PEOPLE AND WHAT TYPE OF FOOD ITEMS
ARE SOLD NEARBY AND THEIR COST .WE ALSO VISITED THE NEARBY FOOD VENDORS
AND TRIED THEIR PRODUCTS TO GET AN IDEA ABOUT THE TASTE WE NEEDED TO
MAINTAIN TO MAKE PROFIT.
 
SINCE THE AREA IS VISITED BY COLLEGE STUDENTS ,WE DECIDED TO KEEP A
SNACK AND BREAKFAST MENU THAT WOULD ATTRACT THE STUDENTS. WE ALSO
TRIED INNOVATIVE ITEM IN OUR MENU AND THAT WAS ‘KHAKRA CHAT’ AND WHICH
WAS LIKED BY MANY CUSTOMERS.
 
WE ALSO BRAINSTORMED ON WHETHER THE QUALITY OF THE FOOD MATTERS
TO THE PEOPLE OR THE COST AND ULTIMATELY WE CONCLUDED THAT IF THE
QUALITY OR THE TASTE IS GOOD, PEOPLE ARE READY TO PAY MORE.
HENCE, THE MENU CARD WAS PREPARED ACCORDINGLY.

IN SIMPLE LANGUAGE, MANAGEMENT CAN BE DEFINED


AS “MANAGING PEOPLE TACTFULLY”. MANAGEMENT
INCLUDES THE ACTIVITIES OF SETTING THE STRATEGIES OF
AN ORGANIZATION AND COORDINATING THE EFFORTS OF
ITS EMPLOYEES TO ACCOMPLISH ITS OBJECTIVES THROUGH
THE APPLICATION OF AVAILABLE RESOURCES SUCH AS
FINANCIAL, NATURAL, TECHNOLOGICAL AND HUMAN
RESOURCES. THE VARIOUS PRINCIPLES OF MANAGEMENT
ARE:
 
PLANNING:
 
IT IS THE BASIC FUNCTION OF MANAGEMENT. IT DEALS WITH CHALKING
OUT A FUTURE COURSE OF ACTION & DECIDING IN ADVANCE THE MOST
APPROPRIATE COURSE OF ACTIONS FOR ACHIEVEMENT OF PRE-DETERMINED
GOALS.
ACCORDING TO KOONTZ, “PLANNING IS DECIDING IN ADVANCE - WHAT TO
DO, WHEN TO DO & HOW TO DO. IT BRIDGES THE GAP FROM WHERE WE ARE &
WHERE WE WANT TO BE”.
PLANNING IS DETERMINATION OF COURSES OF ACTION TO ACHIEVE DESIRED
GOALS. THUS, PLANNING IS A SYSTEMATIC THINKING ABOUT WAYS & MEANS
FOR ACCOMPLISHMENT OF PRE-DETERMINED GOALS. PLANNING IS NECESSARY
TO ENSURE PROPER UTILIZATION OF HUMAN & NON-HUMAN RESOURCES.
IT IS ALL PERVASIVE, IT IS AN INTELLECTUAL ACTIVITY AND IT ALSO HELPS IN
AVOIDING CONFUSION, UNCERTAINTIES, RISKS, WASTAGES ETC. 

 
ORGANIZING:

 IT IS THE PROCESS OF BRINGING TOGETHER PHYSICAL, FINANCIAL AND HUMAN


RESOURCES AND DEVELOPING PRODUCTIVE RELATIONSHIP AMONGST THEM
FOR ACHIEVEMENT OF ORGANIZATIONAL GOALS.
ACCORDING TO HENRY FAYOL, “TO ORGANIZE A BUSINESS IS TO PROVIDE IT WITH
EVERYTHING USEFUL OR ITS FUNCTIONING I.E. RAW MATERIAL, TOOLS, CAPITAL
AND PERSONNEL’S”.
TO ORGANIZE A BUSINESS INVOLVES DETERMINING & PROVIDING HUMAN AND
NON-HUMAN RESOURCES TO THE ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE. ORGANIZING
AS A PROCESS INVOLVES:
IDENTIFICATION OF ACTIVITIES.
CLASSIFICATION OF GROUPING OF ACTIVITIES.
ASSIGNMENT OF DUTIES.
DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY AND CREATION OF RESPONSIBILITY.
COORDINATING AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY RELATIONSHIPS.
 
STAFFING:
 
 IT IS THE FUNCTION OF MANNING THE ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE AND
KEEPING IT MANNED. STAFFING HAS ASSUMED GREATER IMPORTANCE IN
THE RECENT YEARS DUE TO ADVANCEMENT OF TECHNOLOGY, INCREASE IN
SIZE OF BUSINESS, COMPLEXITY OF HUMAN BEHAVIOR ETC.
THE MAIN PURPOSE OF STAFFING IS TO PUT RIGHT MAN ON RIGHT JOB I.E.
SQUARE PEGS IN SQUARE HOLES AND ROUND PEGS IN ROUND HOLES.
STAFFING INVOLVES:
MANPOWER PLANNING (ESTIMATING MAN POWER IN TERMS OF SEARCHING,
CHOOSE THE PERSON AND GIVING THE RIGHT PLACE).
RECRUITMENT, SELECTION & PLACEMENT.
TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT.
REMUNERATION.
PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL.
PROMOTIONS & TRANSFER.
DIRECTING:
IT IS THAT PART OF MANAGERIAL FUNCTION WHICH ACTUATES THE ORGANIZATIONAL
METHODS TO WORK EFFICIENTLY FOR ACHIEVEMENT OF ORGANIZATIONAL PURPOSES.
IT IS CONSIDERED LIFE-SPARK OF THE ENTERPRISE WHICH SETS IT IN MOTION THE
ACTION OF PEOPLE BECAUSE PLANNING, ORGANIZING AND STAFFING ARE THE MERE
PREPARATIONS FOR DOING THE WORK.
 SUPERVISION
 MOTIVATION
 LEADERSHIP
SUPERVISION- IMPLIES OVERSEEING THE WORK OF SUBORDINATES BY THEIR SUPERIORS.
IT IS THE ACT OF WATCHING & DIRECTING WORK & WORKERS.
MOTIVATION- MEANS INSPIRING, STIMULATING OR ENCOURAGING THE SUB-ORDINATES
WITH ZEAL TO WORK.POSITIVE, NEGATIVE, MONETARY, NON-MONETARY INCENTIVES MAY BE
USED FOR THIS PURPOSE.
LEADERSHIP- MAY BE DEFINED AS A PROCESS BY WHICH MANAGER GUIDES AND
INFLUENCES THE WORK OF SUBORDINATES IN DESIRED DIRECTION.
 
 
 
 
CONTROLLING:
 

IT IMPLIES MEASUREMENT OF ACCOMPLISHMENT AGAINST THE STANDARDS AND CORRECTION


OF DEVIATION IF ANY TO ENSURE ACHIEVEMENT OF ORGANIZATIONAL GOALS.
THE PURPOSE OF CONTROLLING IS TO ENSURE THAT EVERYTHING OCCURS IN CONFORMITIES
WITH THE STANDARDS. AN EFFICIENT SYSTEM OF CONTROL HELPS TO PREDICT DEVIATIONS
BEFORE THEY ACTUALLY OCCUR.
ACCORDING TO THEO HAIMANN, “CONTROLLING IS THE PROCESS OF CHECKING WHETHER OR
NOT PROPER PROGRESS IS BEING MADE TOWARDS THE OBJECTIVES AND GOALS AND ACTING IF
NECESSARY, TO CORRECT ANY DEVIATION”.
THEREFORE CONTROLLING HAS FOLLOWING STEPS:
A. ESTABLISHMENT OF STANDARD PERFORMANCE.
B. MEASUREMENT OF ACTUAL PERFORMANCE.
C. COMPARISON OF ACTUAL PERFORMANCE WITH THE STANDARDS AND FINDING OUT
DEVIATION IF ANY.
D. CORRECTIVE ACTION.
 
 
 
 
CONCLUSION

 
MANAGEMENT IS THE MOST SIGNIFICANT CONCEPT WHEN WE HAVE TO
PERFORM A TASK. BY PERFORMING THIS ACTIVITY WE HAVE LEARNT HOW
TO INTERACT WITH THE CUSTOMERS, HOW TO PROMOTE YOUR PRODUCT
IN THE MARKET ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE COMPETITORS AROUND YOU.
 
WE HAVE LEARNT THAT IF YOU WANT TO SUCCEED IN SALES AND
MARKETING THEN YOU SHOULD NEVER THINK ABOUT WHAT PEOPLE ARE
GOING TO THINK OF YOU. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT WE HAVE
LEARNT IS HOW TO MANAGE PEOPLE. WHEN YOU WORK AS A TEAM
MEMBER, THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO HAVE CLASHES AMONG THEM, IT IS
NECESSARY TO MANAGE SUCH PEOPLE IF YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE YOUR
GOAL.
