which is done as a form of gratitude for the birth of a child to the world, as well as exposing
the baby to the community. The Bathing Ceremony is held only on the river (aia stem),
with procession of the parade.
 2. Balimau
Balimau is a tradition of bathing itself before the month of Ramadan. This activity is usually
carried out by Minangkabau people in Lubuak or the river. Besides that Balimau also has
another meaning that is purifying the heart by forgiving one another before welcoming the
holy month of Ramadan.
 3. Makan Bajamba
Makan bajamba is often also called Makan Barapak, this tradition is still widely practiced by
Minangkabau people. Eat Bajamba is a tradition of eating together in a place, usually done on
Islamic Days, traditional ceremonies or other important events.
 4. Batagak Pangulu
Batagak Pangulu is a ceremony that Held When a tribe or a people raises the leadership of his
new People. Pangulu Batagak ceremony is one of the major ceremonies that became the
tradition of the Minangkabau community. This event is usually held by slaughtering buffaloes and
holding a party event for 3 days or even a week.
 5. Pacu Jawi
Pacu Jawi is One of the favorite unique tradition in Minangkabau. Pacu Jawi is similar to the
karapan sapi in Madura. But what distinguishes them is the land used. If Karapan sapi uses dry
rice fields, Pacu Jawi uses wet and muddy rice fields. In addition to speeding up the cows, Pacu
Jawi jockey did not use sticks like the Cow Harvest, they usually bite the cow's tail.
 8. Pacu Itiak
Pacu Itiak (Race Racing Duck) is one of the unique traditions of West Sumatra, especially in
Payakumbuh and Limapuluh Kota areas. The Pacu Itiak event is usually held in 11 different
places in Payakumbuh City and Limapuluh Kota Regency.

The procedure for this Pacu Itiak race is to throw Itiak so that Itiak flies towards the finish line.
The one who quickly reaches the finish line will be declared the winner. The distance of an Itiak
Race Track is usually 800 meters.
