Childhood
Joan was born in 1412 in Domremy, Bar, France

As a teenager, she thought spirits were


telling her to lead an army to a battle in France
Her visions led her to Charles(soon to be King
Charles VII)
She cut her hair and dressed in men's clothes
to meet him
When Joan was 17, she accompanied the army
to the Battle of Orleans
She was captured by the Burgundians, and
later released for 10,00 francs
Death and Legacy
o  She was charged with 70 counts, including
witchcraft , heresy, and dressing like a man

o  On May 30, 1431, Joan was burned at the


stake

o The Hundred Years War continued for 22


years until King Charles VII claimed the
thrown

o  He even ordered an investigation


that declared Joan of Arc to be officially
innocent of all charges and for her to be
known as a martyr

o She was officially declared a saint on May 16,
