Book of Mormon prophets knew that
Jesus Christ would come
From the beginning of time, prophets have known that Jesus Christ is the
Son of God, of His mortal mission, and of His Atonement for all mankind.
Sacred records give the prophecies of thousands of years, not only of the
first coming of our Savior but also of the Second Coming.
In ancient America, Samuel the Lamanite prophesied that on the night of
the Savior’s birth “there [would] be great lights in heaven…
If we had lived in the days of these prophets of old, would we have
Robert D. Hales believed on their words? Would we have had faith in the coming of our
Savior? When Samuel’s prophecy was finally fulfilled and there was a
Quorum of the “day and a night and a day, as if it were one day,” what joy must have
Twelve Apostles filled the hearts of those who had believed in the prophets! “It had come
1994–2017 to pass, yea, all things, every whit, according to the words of the
prophets.”

I Stand All Amazed
(Hymn Book #193)

1. I stand all amazed at the love Jesus offers me,

Confused at the grace that so fully he proffers me.
I tremble to know that for me he was crucified,
That for me, a sinner, he suffered, he bled and died.
MUSIC

2. I marvel that he would descend from his throne divine Chorus:

To rescue a soul so rebellious and proud as mine,
That he should extend his great love unto such as I,
Oh, it is wonderful that
Sufficient to own, to redeem, and to justify. he should care for me
Enough to die for me!
3. I think of his hands pierced and bleeding to pay the debt! Oh, it is wonderful,
Such mercy, such love and devotion can I forget?
wonderful to me!
No, no, I will praise and adore at the mercy seat,
Until at the glorified throne I kneel at his feet.

temptations, and our suffering, for He willingly experienced them all as
an essential part of His Atonement. And because of this, His Atonement
empowers Him to succor us—to give us the strength to bear it all...
Our Savior has revealed that He “descended below all things” (D&C
Dallin H. Oaks 88:6). As Elder Neal A. Maxwell taught, “Having ‘descended below all

human suffering.” We might even say that having descended beneath it

to endure our afflictions. We have only to ask.

I Know That My Redeemer Lives
(Hymn Book #136)

1. I know that my Redeemer lives. 3. He lives, my kind, wise heav'nly Friend.

What comfort this sweet sentence gives! He lives and loves me to the end.
He lives, he lives, who once was dead. He lives, and while he lives, I'll sing.
He lives, my ever-living Head. He lives, my Prophet, Priest, and King.
He lives to bless me with his love. He lives and grants me daily breath.
MUSIC

He lives to plead for me above. He lives, and I shall conquer death.

He lives my hungry soul to feed. He lives my mansion to prepare.
He lives to bless in time of need. He lives to bring me safely there.

2. He lives to grant me rich supply. 4. He lives! All glory to his name!

He lives to guide me with his eye. He lives, my Savior, still the same.
He lives to comfort me when faint. Oh, sweet the joy this sentence gives:
He lives to hear my soul's complaint. "I know that my Redeemer lives!"
He lives to silence all my fears. He lives! All glory to his name!
He lives to wipe away my tears. He lives, my Savior, still the same.
He lives to calm my troubled heart. Oh, sweet the joy this sentence gives:
He lives all blessings to impart. "I know that my Redeemer lives!“

The Atonement of Jesus Christ cleanses me and
changes me
There is no greater expression of love than the heroic Atonement
performed by the Son of God. …
Thankfully, Jesus Christ courageously fulfilled this sacrifice in ancient
Jerusalem. There in the quiet isolation of the Garden of Gethsemane, He
knelt among the gnarled olive trees, and in some incredible way that
none of us can fully comprehend, the Savior took upon Himself the sins
of the world. Even though His life was pure and free of sin, He paid the
ultimate penalty for sin—yours, mine, and everyone who has ever lived.
M. Russell Ballard His mental, emotional, and spiritual anguish were so great they caused
Him to bleed from every pore. And yet Jesus suffered willingly so that we
President of the might all have the opportunity to be washed clean…Without the
Quorum of the Atonement of the Lord, none of these blessings would be available to us,
Twelve Apostles and we could not become worthy and prepared to return to dwell in the
presence of God.
