Work Place Layout

Workplace design deals with the shape, the dimensions and the
layout (i.e. the placement and orientation) of the different
material elements that surround one or more working persons.
The ergonomic workplace design aims at six improving work
performance :
• Minimizing the physical strain and workload of the working
person.
•Facilitating task execution, i.e. ensuring effortless information
exchange with the environment, minimization of the physical
constraints, etc.
•Ensuring occupational health and safety.
• Achieving ease of use of the various workplace elements.
Locations of tools and equipments:
Location of tools and material play significant role in productivity of the operation.
Minimize the distance is very important in order to prevent muscular effort and
maximize the productivity of the operation.
The normal working area represents the most convenient zone within which
motions may be made by hand with a normal expenditure of energy.

Placement of some machine outside the working space to prevent from any danger.
Placement of pipelines outside the industry to save space.
As we observed the industry, they use the work space very nicely. The
positioning of machines were right to some extent.

•There are separate building block for administrative offices and factory.
•Refrigeration machinery room is near the process room and cold store.
•Truck parking is separate from the other parking areas and could be
fenced.
•The walking path is short so as minimize the cost of pipeline and cleaning
time.
•The raw storage tank and pasteurized tank is mounted on a staging in
order to save space.
•For transportation of raw materials pipeline is used throughout the
different Departments.
