CELL PHYSIOLOGY

DEFINITION
• CELL PHYSIOLOGY
• ACTIVITY:
• Name the parts of the cell membrane
• State the functions of the cell
membrane
• Explain how the cell membrane is able
to carry out the functions listed above
Cell physiology-
• These are the processes of controlling
movement of materials in out of the cell
• The processes are:
• Diffusion
• Osmosis
• Active transport
Cell physiology is then the study of these
processes.

QUESTIONS
What did you
observe in the
video?
Observations
• The membrane is selective i.e it allows
water molecules to move through but not
other molecules
• The water molecules moved by osmosis
process.
• Osmosis is the movement of water from
a solution of high water concentration to
a solution of low water concentration
through a selective membrane.
